Tapas and WineWe’ve found an amazing hideaway to help us wind down on a Wednesday! Casa Vino, where you can get a Chardonnay or a Chimay with your tapas and pannini. There will be cocktails, conversation, friendly people and hosts! Come alone or with friends/co-workers, you’re guaranteed to meet a lot of friendly people while you’re there.

We’ll meet at the bar, and will have hosts at the event. They are there to meet everyone attending and make introductions amongst all the guests.

So join us! It’s a great way to socialize after a hard day at work and meet some new people in a fun location that’s the hidden oasis of the Tri-Cities social scene.

We’ve heard so much about this event (and had so many requests to go as a group) that there was no way we would pass it up!  The Tri-Cities Wine Festival has been growing since 1979 and has now expanded to the Three Rivers Convention Center. Even though there are two full days of seminars, the Saturday Night public tasting offers three hours in which to sample a broad spectrum of wines, both alone and with food.

Admission to the Public Tasting includes your wine glass, appetizers, access to artisan vendors, the silent auction and music!

This is wonderful opportunity to taste a wide variety of wines in a wide variety of categories for wide variety of purposes! Throughout the evening, complimentary cheese, bread, fruit and chocolate will be served, along with delectable samples from area chefs – all conveniently located with the wines so both food and wine are never more than a few steps away.

trivialTC-SSC and 97.5 COOL FM have partnered (and stepped) up to serve the sadly underquizzed residents of the Tri-Cities every other Thursday night from 7:30 – 10:00pm at Jack-son’s Richland. We’ve had an incredible turnout so far, and hope that you come check it out!

RSVP HERE: http://www.meetup.com/TC-SSC/calendar/11726794/

Team sign-ups start at 7:30pm with gameplay starting around 8pm (or when the natives start getting restless).

Here’s what you need to know:
– Trivia Night covers everything from celebrities in trouble to local lore to bad television.

- Play in teams of up to six (teams over/under 4 get handicapped) or by yourself if you’re some kind of savant.

- If you want to play but don’t have a team, come anyway. We shouldn’t have a problem getting single players recruited onto an existing team.

- Winning team gets street cred, bar cash and other prizes depending on the evening.

- You don’t have to be a trivia God to enjoy the quiz. Since you’re playing on a team, the collective knowledge base makes for more fun, less pressure. It’s not Final friggin Jeopardy :)

Here’s the basics:

- Each table forms a team and selects its team name. Each team will have a trivia sheet that they will use to fill out their answers.

- Teams can be any size (from singles to large groups) – but there is a handicapping system.

- There are six category rounds (each with its own theme) and around 10 questions per round.

- Each question will be announced by the trivia host, and groups will have time to talk within their team and write down an answer before moving on.

- After the round is complete, teams will “trade up” their score sheet with another group for grading (think elementary school….pass it back :) ). If a group feels they should receive credit, they can feel free to argue their case with the trivia host, who will make the final call.

- After three rounds, we’ll take a 15 (or so) minute break so we can grab another beer (or two) and bitch about how stupid (or savant-like) we all are.

- The Top 3 scoring teams will win bragging rights and some fun prizes from the Jackson’s…and will be our Reigning Champions!!

It’s time to get our funny on! Since sarcasm reigns supreme at most of our events, we thought it was time to check out some comedy at Jack Didley’s in downtown Kennewick. Come in early for a great dinner, enjoy the show and stay for dancing and music afterwards!!!

Here’s the deets on the night’s headliner, Robert Duchaine:

Robert Duchaine is a surly misanthrope. His sarcastic social commentary pokes fun at a myriad of topics including race, religion, and relationships.

He’s been kicked out of every organization he was ever forced to join, from the Cub Scouts to the U.S. Army, and fired from every job he ever finagled. Robert finally found a refuge where he can make his own rules – the stand-up comedy stage.

Now an established national touring headliner, Robert performs regularly in Las Vegas show rooms, colleges, comedy clubs and concert venues. Duchaine is also involved in avant-garde theater and independent film. Robert’s unique perspective fuels an act that pushes the envelope. Duchaine is candid, entertaining, and always hilarious!

“…this guy is a must see!” Arts & Entertainment Weekly “…like having a one-sided conversation with your funniest friend.”
The Orgonian” “…only Robert Duchaine rises above…”
Backstage West “Duchaine is confident and relaxed in the grip of hostility.”
The San Francisco Chronicle

Something special happens to the Tri-Cities in the fall. Aside from the ever-present beautiful weather, start of American Hockey fever and holiday buzz, the city’s culinary community is electrified by the next installation of Eastern Washington’s largest wine, food and culinary festival.

Now in its third year, Savor the Flavor: A Culinary Experience is a showcase of the Region’s premier wine, beer and spirit producers, chefs and culinary personalities, unique restaurants and kitchen/cooking-related products. Produced by TASTE Tri-Cities Magazine, the event benefits Oasis School, the small school for big minds in Richland, WA, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

A world-class wine, food and culinary extravaganza, the two-day event joins tastemakers from all aspects of the food and wine industry: Celebrity chefs, sommeliers, vintners and retailers; 20 winemakers, spirit companies and breweries; over 30 local culinary artisans and their fine restaurants; media personalities and more.

Come for lunch and stay for dinner at Savor the Flavor’s Mid-Columbia Flavors tasting pavilion. The chefs of favorite Tri-Cities area restaurants will serve up appetizer portions of their signature recipes. Beer, wine and spirits will be well represented as well, where you can sip and taste a variety of different beverages. For a nominal charge ($1 – $4) per taste/bite you will be able to savor the flavors of numerous eateries, wineries, breweries and distilleries.

Join us for this one-of-a-kind opportunity to have a really good time and support a worthy cause.
